hey everyone, today i learnt something that really spoke to me. thought i'd share it with everyone.
Love
"And now i will show you the most excellent way.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If i gave all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowlegde, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 11:3
i learnt that love was not as simple as we think. the love that we talk about most of the time is normally in the bgr context. most of us will be able to define love from what we have experienced or heard about. but today i found out that it was not as simple as i thought it was. Love is such a wonderful thing, because of the fact that it is what brings us together, something that we all have in common. our superficial conception of love has all been wrong. Love is something that is worth dying for, worth the sacrifice of anything.
we cant deny the fact that most of the time, we feel like we're just living for the sake of it. the lives that we lead are shallow and fake, because this is not what we really want. but, do you feel your life spark up when love intervenes? thats how amazing it can be.
"When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me."
as a part of growing up, there are bound to certains we hang on to dearly. i suppose as we move along, there are things that we will have to give up or to let go off in order to progress. when we think about what we've done in the past, we might feel stupid. it is the things that we do that define who we are, not just by mere judgement. we must learn the importance of the things around us, and to set our priorities straight, and not live our lives with no goals. stop lying to yourself, do something about your life.Labels: food for thought.
