something i saw on tv just now was rather inspiring and i thought i'd share it.
He was just any normal kid, borned october 30 1960. he was just like any other south american football player, who were from poor beginnings. whoever knew this kid could have achieved so much in his life, that he is regarded as the greatest footballer of all time. this man, with no doubt, is Diego Armando Maradona.
at the age of ten, he was scouted for a club. i was still happily watching tv and playing pokemon cards. then he made his professional debut on october 20 1976. soon he was transferred to FC Barcelona, for a hefty £5.0m, which was a world record at that time. however, during the days at Barcelona, he suffered hepatitis and an injury which did put his career on the line. it was his willpower that enabled him to return 14 weeks later. during that time, he was too introduced to a drug, called cocaine, which he would become addicted to.
soon things started to go downhill for him, as there was a scandal regarding an illegitimate son, and an object of suspicion over his friendship with Camorra.
during the 1994 world cup, he was sent home after failing a drug test for ephedrine dropping. in the end, he was expelled from the world cup which he believed was the last chance he had.. "they cut my legs off." with a tear in his eye. it was one of the lowest moment for him ever.
he would then spend much time, trying to curb his addiction in Cuba. many times did he fall, from heart attacks due to his cocaine intake. 3 years later, he retired from football. leaving his name cemented as the world's greatest footballer. people might not understand the impact of this man on the people from his country, and around the world. in some part of the world, the "Church of Maradona" still lives on, with over 80thousand members. he was simply amazing, and during his last game, his last words of football still being clean, and could never be made dirty because of one man's mistakes, namely himself. tears overflowed him, and of course the fans worldwide. "it is sad to see your idol cry" said by a television host who had an interview with Maradona.
